"success is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration" (Thomas Edison)
Bottom Line: Effort and Innovation might not be correlated.
Findings: The above provided chart was generated from the audit log in a cloud-based software prototyping tool. As a result of new found reporting ability, three weeks of my project are now available for analysis.
Analysis: I subjectively determined that three screens were the most innovative deliverables of our project. Subsequently, I correlated these innovative pages against audit log "action" on that page. For this analysis, "action" is inclusive of all activity types (create, review, modify, delete).
Innovation 1 - Tagging Requirements (About 1,000 Actions)
Innovation 2 - Split Screen (About 100 actions)
Innovation 3 - Responsive Design (not on radar)
Further Analysis is needed:
- I plan to explore the correlation between innovation and collaboration. Specifically, I am curious if the "Innovative" pages were all worked on in silos or a result of collaboration
- I plan to discover existing/validated metrics for objectively determining innovation.

Very, very interesting!
Very interesting work, Tony. What metrics are you correlating, i.e. what is "action" on those pages? Id look for correlation between innovation and
# of total stakeholder reviews
# of stakholders who have every reviewed the page
# of comments left
"fidelity level" of the pages (how much visual, interactive and data fidelity)
# of model modifications
Can't wait to see the next report!
Hi Pete,
DeleteMy Excel file is on this wiki: http://tonycalice.wikispaces.com/iRise
However, I would also like to talk to you about a possible "Open Visualization" collaborative project for a national effort to improve the lives of the Developmentally Disabled.
Bottom Line for iRise: I would to be able to invite the public to join my project. Any iRise modeler's interested in donating their time/gaining experience to this effort would be a terrific benefit to states trying to improve the lives of the developmentally disabled through innovation. http://foreveryidea.wikispaces.com/Developmental+Disability
I would like to know you thoughts on the Def Center's ability to collaborate with stakeholder virtually and across the nation.
I put together a compilation of some of our earlier work here http://peoplewhojam.wikispaces.com/
Thanks,
- Tony
